FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Who should apply?

SNL Launchpad is open to early-stage startups, entrepreneurs, and research teams working on breakthrough technologies in aerospace, defense, cybersecurity, space, and other deep-tech fields. While dual-use solutions applicable to both government and commercial markets are preferred, they are not required. The program is designed to help founders and technologists gain mentorship, industry access, and strategic support to accelerate their technology’s development and commercialization.

What if I miss the application deadline?

The application window for the first cohort of SNL Launchpad opens on April 1st, 2025 and closes on May 9th, 2025. If you miss the deadline, we encourage you to apply for a future cohort. While we generally do not accept late applications, exceptions may be made under extenuating circumstances. If you believe your case warrants an exception, please Contact Us.

Is the program virtual or in person?

SNL Launchpad will be a hybrid program, with a mix of virtual programming and in-person events in National Landing. The accelerator will conclude with an in-person Demo Day and networking event, where startups will have the opportunity to showcase their progress to industry and government stakeholders.

How many companies will be accepted into the program?

Each SNL Launchpad cohort will support up to 8-10 startups. By keeping cohorts small, we ensure tailored support and high-value engagement with partners, mentors, and industry experts.

Do I need to pay a fee to join SNL Launchpad?

SNL Launchpad does not charge service or participation fees to selected startups. The program is supported by economic development, corporate, and university partners that believe in fostering innovation and growth in the aerospace and defense ecosystem.

Will selected applicants receive grants or investment?

SNL Launchpad does not provide direct grants or investment. However, the program helps startups build relationships with industry and government partners, positioning them for potential funding opportunities. Founders may receive guidance on securing grants, venture investment, and government contracts, but participation in the accelerator does not guarantee funding.

What makes the SNL Launchpad program unique?

SNL Launchpad is designed to leverage the unique advantages of National Landing, one of the most strategic technology hubs in the country. Unlike traditional accelerators, this program:

  • Does not take equity – startups retain full ownership of their company

  • Is backed by key industry, government, and university partners offering deep engagement

  • Provides direct access to stakeholders in aerospace, defense, and national security markets

  • Supports companies at various stages of maturity, from early technical development to commercialization

I have never considered defense or national security as a potential market for my company, but I have a solution that may be relevant to the program, should I still apply?

Yes! SNL Launchpad is designed to support startups exploring new applications for their technology, even if they were not originally developed for defense or aerospace. The program can help identify pathways for adoption, commercialization, and partnerships in the national security ecosystem.
